Total cooking and preparation time approximately 45 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil
1 lb lean minced beef
1 large or 2 small onions, chopped
4 tsp garlic, crushed
3 large or 4 small carrots, sliced
4 oz sliced green beans
14 oz tin chopped tomatoes
½ pint beef stock
1 tbsp plain flour
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp dried mixed herbs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper
½ lb baby new potatoes

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan on a medium heat and cook the beef, onion, and garlic for about 10 minutes until the onions have softened and the meat has browned.
  2. Add the carrots, beans, tomatoes, stock, flour, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, salt, pepper and potatoes. Stir well.
  3. Bring to the boil and simmer for about half an hour.
  4. Serve with crusty bread.
