Ingredients
1 lb lean minced beef
1 tbsp garlic, crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
14 oz tin chopped tomatoes
14 oz tin red kidney beans, drained
3 tbsp tomato purée
1 tbsp dried mixed herbs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper
4 cups dried penne pasta
Method
- Cook the meat, onion and garlic in a large frying pan on a medium heat for
about 5 minutes, until the meat has browned and the onions have softened.
- Add the chilli, tomatoes, beans, tomato purée, herbs, salt, pepper and 4
tbsp water.
- Stir, lower the heat and leave to simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a saucepan according to the instructions on
the packet.
- Drain and return to the pan, then add the sauce and toss until well mixed.
- Serve with crusty bread.
