Ingredients
2 lb lean minced beef
1 large or 2 small onions, sliced
1 tbsp garlic, crushed
2 granny smith apples, chopped
14 oz tin chopped tomatoes
2 fresh tomatoes, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 tbsp chilli powder
½ cup raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp salt
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper
2 oz almond flakes
Method
- Put the minced beef, onion and garlic in a large frying pan on a medium
heat and cook for about 5 minutes until the beef has browned and the
onions have softened.
- Add the apples, tinned tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, red pepper, chilli,
raisins, cinnamon, cumin, salt and pepper. Stir.
- Lower the heat and simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes.
- Add the almonds and cook for about another 2 minutes, stirring
continuously.
- Serve on a bed of plain rice with flour tortillas and avocado
slices.
