Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 lb lean minced beef
14 oz tin chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato purée
1 tbsp dried basil
3 tbsp water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper
3 fresh tomatoes, chopped and deseeded
8 oz dried spaghetti
Method
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan on medium heat and fry the beef and onion gently for
5 minutes, until the meat has browned and the onions have softened.
- Stir in the tinned tomatoes, tomato purée, basil, water, salt and pepper.
- Stir in the fresh tomatoes then lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in a saucepan according to the instructions
on the packet.
- Drain the spaghetti and serve with the Bolognese sauce on top, accompanied
by crusty bread.
- Sprinkle on a little grated parmesan cheese if desired.
