Serves 2

Ingredients

2 large sirloin or rump steaks
2 tsp olive oil
8 fresh tomatoes, chopped
1 tbsp red wine
1 tbsp garlic, crushed
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the grill to the highest setting.
  2. Brush the steaks on both side with olive oil and grill for 3-5 minutes each side depending on how well you like it done.
  3. Meanwhile, put the tomatoes, wine, garlic, basil, water, salt and pepper in a small saucepan and simmer for about 3 minutes until the tomatoes have softened.
  4. Serve the steak with the sauce spooned over the top, with green beans and baby new potatoes.
