Total cooking and preparation time approximately 20 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients

2 tsp ginger, finely chopped
2 tsp garlic, crushed
4 tbsp light soy sauce
2 tbsp dry sherry
1 tsp hot chilli sauce
1 tsp clear honey
½ tsp Chinese five-spice powder
12 oz rump steak, cut into thin stir-fry strips
4 oz mangetout
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
4 oz dried egg noodles

Method

  1. Put the ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sherry, chilli sauce, honey and five-spice powder in a bowl and mix well. Add the steak, coat well and leave to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the noodles according to the instructions on the packets.
  3. Add the beef and 2 tbsp marinade to a very hot wok and stir-fry for about 3 minutes until browned.
  4. Add the mangetout, the rest of the marinade, salt and pepper and stir-fry for about another 2 minutes.
  5. Drain the noodles and serve with the beef and mangetout on top, accompanied by prawn crackers.
