Total cooking and preparation time approximately 10 minutes

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 lb rump steak
2 tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp sunflower or vegetable oil
¼ tsp salt
2 large or 4 small carrots, sliced diagonally
2 sticks celery, sliced diagonally
2 large or 4 small spring onions, chopped
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tbsp hot chilli sauce
2 tbsp dry sherry

Method

  1. Toss the steak in the cornflour and salt until well covered.
  2. Heat the oil in a very hot wok and stir-fry the beef, carrots, celery and spring onions for about 3 minutes, until the beef has browned.
  3. Add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chilli sauce and sherry and stir-fry for about another 2 minutes.
  4. Serve with plain rice and prawn crackers.
