Total cooking and preparation time approximately 5 minutes, plus 2 hours refrigeration time

Serves 4

Ingredients

1½ cups plain flour
4 oz butter
6 tbsp white sugar
½ tsp salt
2 x 14 oz tins apple slices
11 oz tin blackberries, drained

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180oC / gas mark 4.
  2. Put the flour, butter, sugar and salt in a large bowl and rub together with your fingers for about 5 minutes, until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Put the fruit in a large ovenproof bowl and top with the crumble mix.
  4. Cook in the oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
  5. Serve with ready-made custard.
