Total cooking and preparation time approximately 20 minutes

Serves 8

Ingredients

6 tbsp margarine
6 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp golden syrup
1½ cups porridge oats
½ cup dried apricots, chopped

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 190oC / gas mark 5.
  2. Put the margarine, sugar and syrup into a saucepan and heat gently until the margarine has melted and the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Stir in the oats and the apricots.
  4. Grease a shallow baking tin then pour the flapjack mixture into it spreading it out evenly.
  5. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
  6. Leave to cool then cut into wedges.
