Ingredients
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 slices wholemeal bread
4 slices Emmental or Gruyere cheese
2 thick slices smoked ham
¼ tsp coarse ground black pepper
Method
- Preheat the grill to the highest setting.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan on a moderate heat and fry the eggs for 3-4 minutes until the whites are opaque and the yoke has begun to set.
- Meanwhile, toast the bread under the grill, turning halfway through, until
golden brown on both sides.
- Top each slice of bread with two slices of cheese and grill for about
another minute until the cheese has melted.
- Place a slice of ham onto each cheese topped toasted slice, followed by a
fried egg.
- Season with the pepper and serve.
